Poems by Soen Nakagawa and other Zen Masters
*
Last night the sky opened up. Woke up a few times to the sound of hard rain. From the look of the clouds, there is more on the way.

Spring approaches
the Pacific Ocean
will be my sitting mat
*

Sound of mountain
sound of ocean
everywhere spring rain
*
---Soen Nakagawa (1907-1984)

Sitting quietly, doing nothing
Spring Comes, and the grass grows by itself
---Zenrin Kushu

I Always think of Konan in March
Partridges chirp among the scented blossoms.

The long night,
The sound of the water
Says what I think
---Gochiku
